Ah, zomer! Het seizoen van ijsjes, stranddagen en… kunstgras? Je vraagt je misschien af hoe kunstgras zich gedraagt wanneer de zon op zijn felst schijnt. We zetten alle feiten voor je op een rij. Kunstgras is ontworpen om er niet alleen prachtig uit te zien, maar ook om bestand te zijn tegen verschillende weersomstandigheden. Een veelgestelde vraag is of kunstgras in de zomer extreem warm kan worden, als een gloeiendhete barbecue. Daar kunnen we kort over zijn: kunstgras wordt niet zo heet dat het je tenen doet krommen van de hitte. Hieronder lees je waarom.
Verkoelende technologie. Er zijn verschillende redenen waarom kunstgras niet extreem heet wordt, zoals deze twee:
“Allemaal goed en wel,” denk je nu misschien, “maar wat dan met echt gras?” Echt gras wordt dan misschien niet zo heet dat je er een worstje op kunt bakken, het kan wél warmer en onaangenamer aanvoelen dan kunstgras. Natuurlijk gras absorbeert de warmte van de zon beter, onder andere om voldoende aan fotosynthese te kunnen doen en te groeien. Daarnaast geleidt natuurlijk gras de warmte ook goed. Dat betekent dat de warmte die door het gras wordt geabsorbeerd, wordt overgedragen op de omringende bodem, waardoor de temperatuur verder stijgt. De synthetische materialen van kunstgras hebben die eigenschappen niet.
